The Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR), Mumbai, has invited applications for 21 teaching and leadership positions under its unaided Master of Management Studies (MMS) programme for the 2026-27 academic session. The recruitment includes one Director, three Professors, five Associate Professors, and 12 Assistant Professors, with all vacancies open to candidates from any category.

The recruitment offers opportunities for both experienced academicians and early-career faculty members looking to join one of Mumbai's established autonomous management institutes.

TIMSR has announced the following positions:

  • Director: 1 post
  • Professor: 3 posts
  • Associate Professor: 5 posts
  • Assistant Professor: 12 posts

All 21 posts are open to candidates irrespective of category, as mentioned in the official notification.

About TIMSR

TIMSR is affiliated with the University of Mumbai and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Government of Maharashtra.

The institute has been granted Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for a period of ten years beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. It also holds an A+ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its second accreditation cycle. In addition, the institute's MMS programme is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and TIMSR is certified under ISO 21001:2018, the international quality management standard for educational institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for all advertised posts must satisfy the educational qualifications, experience requirements, and pay-scale norms prescribed by the University of Mumbai, AICTE, and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE).

Candidates have been advised to refer to the University of Mumbai circular dated January 11, 2021, as the eligibility criteria applicable at the time of interview will be based on the University's prevailing regulations.

Applicants already serving in another institution must submit their applications through the proper channel and clearly explain any break in their academic career.

Reservation and Preference

The recruitment will follow the reservation policies notified by the University of Mumbai.

  • Reservation for women will be implemented as per University norms.
  • Four per cent reservation has been provided for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in accordance with the University's Special Cell guidelines.
  • Candidates with knowledge of Marathi will be given preference, although it is not a mandatory requirement.

The notification also clarifies that this is a recruitment drive by a minority institution and candidates from all categories are eligible to apply.

Why This Recruitment Is Significant

The recruitment drive stands out because it spans every level of academic leadership, from Assistant Professor to Director. With 12 Assistant Professor vacancies, it is one of the larger faculty recruitment exercises announced by a single autonomous management institute in Mumbai for the upcoming academic session.

For young academicians, the openings provide an opportunity to begin or advance their teaching careers at an institution recognised for its NAAC A+ accreditation, NBA-accredited MMS programme, and autonomous academic status. Senior faculty members and academic administrators can also compete for leadership positions, including the Director's post, within a well-established management institution affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
