Powering Ahead: PVVNL Nears Completion of Ambitious 2024-25 Business Plan

Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) is moving steadily toward strengthening Noida’s power infrastructure, with 89 percent of the work under its 2024-25 Business Plan already completed. The plan aims to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted power supply, especially during the high-demand summer months, and is now close to its final stage.

The utility company confirmed on September 3, 2025, that a large portion of the planned projects have been implemented. The work mainly focuses on modernizing the power distribution system. Most of the replacement of old poles and overhead wires has been completed, along with the upgradation of distribution transformers to meet the growing electricity demand. Important rectification work on power transformer protections has also been carried out to improve safety and reliability.

According to Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chief Engineer of the PVVNL Noida zone, the department successfully completed 625 projects under the 2023-24 Business Plan. Building on that progress, 532 new projects were approved for 2024-25, supported by a budget of ₹124.89 crore. With nearly 90 percent of these works already finished, Jain confirmed that the remaining projects will be completed by November 15, 2025.

In addition to these major upgrades, PVVNL is improving the technical strength of its grid. The company has replaced faulty 11kV Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs) and repaired 33kV VCBs to minimize technical faults. It has also repaired and upgraded damaged underground cables to prevent power failures in the future. Officials added that regular tree trimming and clearance drives are being carried out to prevent interruptions in the supply lines.

This focused effort is part of a larger plan to ensure that Noida experiences an uninterrupted power supply during the next summer season. To meet the city’s growing energy needs, PVVNL is also enhancing the capacity of 94 existing 11/04 kV substations and constructing two new 33/11 kV substations within city limits. These developments are essential to match Noida’s rapid urban growth and rising electricity consumption.

To increase public engagement, all sub-divisional officers (SDOs) have been instructed to hold meetings with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in their respective areas. The Chief Engineer stressed that these meetings must be completed by November 30, 2025. The purpose is to listen to residents’ concerns directly and resolve any pending service issues quickly.

In addition, PVVNL is preparing to launch a new system to improve customer service and complaint redressal. RWA representatives have been informed about this initiative, which will begin on November 15, 2025. The system will help coordinate complaint handling and improve communication between residents and the power department.

With its wide-ranging efforts from technical improvements to community outreach, PVVNL is making clear progress toward providing Noida with a more reliable, efficient, and responsive power network. The completion of the 2024-25 Business Plan marks a significant step in building a modern electricity infrastructure that can meet the city’s future needs.
